It has become a problem for the social environment due to the controversial issue of stray dogs and the abuse of stray dogs in Taiwan. The purpose of this thesis is to study the surreal style and its performing techniques and the meaning and characteristics of line drawing and then to create and present the topic for my creation by illustration. Through the process of watching my creation, the watchers may rethink and care more for those stray dogs. The methods for this study: (1) Documentary Analysis: Integrate the relevant documents about the surreal style and its performing techniques. lines, line drawings, and Taiwan stray dogs to be the theoretical base for my creation. (2) Case Study: Summarize the line drawings from the illustrators to be the references for the future creations. (3) Practical Creative Design work: Create the topic for stray dogs by line drawing and present it on the poster.
My creation may be summarized as follows after studying various theories and art works:
1. Surreal Style exists in order to explore our inner selves between “virtuality” and “reality”. The image of the creation may generate irrationality to enhance the imagination for the main theme.
2. Line Drawing is a way to express more than words.
3. The problem of the stray dogs cannot be solved by stray dogs themselves or by animal euthanasia. The only way to solve the problem and minimize the number of stray dogs is to put more efforts and face the problem bravely both from the government and the citizens.
4. If the elements of the creation may include both negative and positive images, it will increase the chance and space for watchers to rethink.
