本研究旨在瞭解國小學童對於飼養寵物之動機,探討影響國小學童對於飼養寵物的動機因素。首先運用探索性因素分析找出國小學童飼養寵物之動機的因素構面;其次再根據國小學童不同的背景變項分析其飼養動機的差異。 本研究採用問卷調查進行資料收集,以高雄縣國小學童為研究對象進行抽樣,有效回收問卷390份,回收率為90.70﹪。資料分析的方法包括:描述性統計、因素分析、T檢定、單因子變異數分析(若達顯著性則進行Scheffe事後比較),研究結果獲得以下結論: 一、國小學童對於飼養寵物的動機,經因素分析法萃取出八項動機因素,包括有陪伴作樂、學習成長、排遣寂寞、內心喜愛、飼養負擔、心理負荷、外在趨力、內在激發等八項。 二、從T檢定來測試動機因素構面各項因素,住家有無庭院之學童在心理負荷、內在激發等二項動機構面達到顯著差異;住家附近有無公園或散步場所之國小學童在學習成長、排遣寂寞、心理負荷等三項動機構面達到顯著差異。 三、從單因子變異數分析,不同就讀年級、飼養寵物類型、身體狀況、家中排行、學習成就、零用錢、宗教信仰、家庭經濟狀況、住宅型態的國小學童,對於飼養寵物之動機均具有顯著的差異。

This study is designed to understand the motivation of pupils’ owning pets at elementary schools and to explore pupils’ motivational factors of pet ownership. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) is used to analyze the pupils’ motivational factors. Then, we analyze the differences between the motivations and the satisfaction from pupils’ backgrounds. We adopt the questionnaire method to collect data. The pupils of elementary schools in Kaohsiung city take part in this activity as survey samples. Three hundred ninety surveys were conducted for a valid rate of 90.70%. We collected data and analyzed the materials by using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA(using Scheffe post test for significance), and Pearson correlation. The main findings of this study were as follows: 1. Using the factor analysis for exploring pupils’ motivational factors of pet ownership, we determined eight dimensions of motivation. These are accompanying, learning progress, time-killing, inner liking, breeding-burden, emotional burden, exterior motivity, and interior motivity. 2. The T-test indicates a significant effect for emotional burden and interior motivity on whether living in a detached house. And three dimensions are significant. These are learning progress, time-killing, and emotional burden. 3. The variable of grade, the kind of pet, health, order of sibling, learning achievement, pin money, religious belief, family financial situation and living in a detached house would make significant differences in motivation for pet ownership.
